Grinding machine specialists · Surendranagar, Gujarat

Give your old grinding machine
a new life.

Axis Mechatronics retrofits cylindrical, centreless, surface and internal grinding machines with modern Delta PLC, HMI, VFD and servo control. Same bed, same spindle, same accuracy you paid for — running again, with spares you can actually buy.

Capabilities

Engineering built
around the machine.

Four things, and they fit together. A retrofit needs a control upgrade; a control upgrade needs PLC and HMI programming; all of it needs a panel built properly. We do every part of that ourselves, so there is nobody else to blame when the machine has to run. All five services.

Our control platform

We build on Delta.
On purpose.

Choosing one platform and knowing it deeply beats knowing five of them shallowly. Delta gives our customers parts that are actually available in Gujarat, service costs that make sense for a mid-size shop, and hardware that survives a grinding shop's dust and coolant. More on our Delta work.

PLC

Delta programmable controllers

Cycle logic, interlocking, sequencing and part counting written to be read by the next engineer.

DVP series
AS series
HMI

Delta operator interfaces

Screens designed for a shop floor operator, not an engineer — large digits, plain fault text, Gujarati labelling on request.

DOP-100 series
DOP-B series
VFD

Delta variable frequency drives

Spindle, regulating wheel and coolant pump control with repeatable speed setting and soft start.

MS300 · MH300

SERVO

Delta servo drives & motors

Infeed and axis positioning with the resolution a grinding cycle actually needs, tuned on the machine.

How a retrofit runs

Six steps, in this order,
every time.

The sequence matters. Most retrofits go wrong because parts were bought before anyone agreed what the machine should actually do. Full retrofitting service.

STEP 01

Machine survey

We come to your plant, run the machine as it is, check the mechanical condition and note the grinding cycle you need back.

STEP 02

Scope & quotation

A written scope, a control philosophy and a transparent Delta BOM. You know what you are buying before you commit.

STEP 03

Design & drawings

Electrical schematics, panel layout, I/O list and console design. Everything documented before we build.

STEP 04

Panel build & wiring

Panel manufactured and wired in our Wadhwan shop to the schedule, with ferrule numbers matching the drawing.

STEP 05

Programming & testing

PLC, HMI, VFD and servo programmed and dry-tested on the bench before the panel goes anywhere near your machine.

STEP 06

Install & prove the size

Installation, commissioning, trial grinding on your own components, operator training, and the full document set including source code.

Where we work.

Our workshop is at Phase 4, GIDC, Wadhwan, Surendranagar. Site work across Gujarat runs from there; for the manufacturing centres below we travel for survey, installation and commissioning. Enquiries are taken from anywhere in India.

Why shops call us back

Four reasons.

01

Grinding is our speciality

We are not generalists who occasionally touch a grinder. Grinding cycles, spark-out, dwell and size holding are the problems we solve every week.

02

You own the program

Delta source programs, schematics and I/O lists are handed over. Nothing is locked to keep you dependent on us.

03

Honest advice on scope

If the bed or spindle is finished, we will tell you a retrofit is a waste of money — even though it costs us the order.

04

We prove it on your parts

The job is done when your operator grinds a good component unaided on a normal shift, not when our van leaves.

Common questions

What plants ask us
before they call.

A short selection. Read all twelve questions.

What is grinding machine retrofitting?

Grinding machine retrofitting means keeping the mechanical body of the machine — the bed, spindle and slideways — and replacing everything electrical and control related around it. Axis Mechatronics strips out obsolete relay logic and unsupported drives, then rebuilds the machine on modern Delta PLC, HMI, VFD and servo control so it runs accurately again with spares that are still available.

Which grinding machines can Axis Mechatronics retrofit?

We retrofit cylindrical grinders (plain and universal), centreless grinders (through-feed and in-feed), surface grinders and internal grinders. We also take on imported or orphan machines where the original supplier no longer offers support, by reverse-engineering the grinding cycle from the machine itself.

How much does a grinding machine retrofit cost in India?

Cost depends on the machine size, the number of axes to be automated and the condition of the mechanics, so we quote only after a machine survey. As a guide, a control retrofit is usually a fraction of the price of replacing the machine with a new one. Send photos of the machine and its nameplate on WhatsApp for an initial assessment.

How long does a retrofit take?

Most grinding machine retrofits are completed in a few weeks from approval, covering design, panel building, programming, installation and commissioning. The exact schedule is confirmed after the machine survey and depends on component lead times.

Why does Axis Mechatronics standardise on Delta PLC and HMI?

Delta hardware is reliable, competitively priced and — most importantly for a plant in Gujarat — spare modules are readily available locally. That means your machine stays serviceable long after handover instead of becoming obsolete again. We work with Delta DVP and AS series PLCs, DOP-100 and DOP-B HMIs, MS300, MH300 and C2000 VFDs, and ASDA servo drives.

New machines

Need a new machine,
not a retrofit?

Sometimes the old machine really is finished — and sometimes the machine you need was never built in the first place. We supply new grinding machines, and we build new special purpose machines to your own component and cycle time.

Tell us the part, the tolerance you need to hold and the output you are after, and we will come back with options rather than a catalogue.
